Product Overview 27 nosler AMMO
27 Nosler Trophy Grade ammunition is high quality, production-run ammunition manufactured to strict tolerances and inspected as it is hand-packaged. Trophy Grade features Nosler Custom brass and the dependable, high performing bullets you know and trust. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable cases.
27 NOSLER Trophy Grade ammunition is loaded with Nosler’s AccuBond bonded core bullet. Through a proprietary bonding process that eliminates voids in the bullet core, AccuBond marries Nosler’s traditional copper-alloy jacket with its special lead-alloy core. The result is a bullet that flies true, penetrates deep, won’t cause extensive barrel fouling, and will retain 60-70% of its weight. The white polymer tip helps protect against deformation while initiating expansion upon impact.
No caliber is more uniquely American than the 270. For over 90 years, American hunters have taken to the field in pursuit of nearly all the game the lower 48 states have to offer with a trusty 270 in hand. Over the decades, millions of deer, elk, sheep, bears and pronghorn have fallen to it, to grace the tables and walls of America’s hunters and add chapters to the American hunting lore. For 2020, Nosler has chosen to take the venerable 270 caliber to a new level with the introduction of the all-new 27 Nosler. Conceived as a 21st century upgrade, the 27 Nosler delivers previously unobtainable downrange ballistics by pairing the ultimate combination of case capacity with modern long-for-caliber bullets.
The result is a standard setting offering from Nosler that redefines performance as radically now as the 270 Winchester did upon its introduction in 1925. If you hunt where the game is tough, the shots are long and demanding, and there is no room for compromise, there is no better choice than the 27 Nosler.
27 Nosler Sets the Bar
Nosler has introduced the 27 Nosler, a 27-caliber cartridge based on the “fat” .404 Jeffery case, same as the .30, .28, and .26 Noslers. It throws a 150-grain bullet 3,300 fps from a 26-inch barrel, about 300 to 400 fps faster than the .270 Winchester, 200 fps faster than the .270 WSSM, and 100 fps quicker than the .270 Weatherby Magnum. Of course that means more energy downrange, less drop, and less wind deflection—with a bunch more recoil. Figure an 8-pound rifle spitting a 150-grain bullet slapping your shoulder with about 30- to 34 foot-pounds of energy at 16 fps. A .270 Winchester would generate about 20 ft-lbs in the same rifle.

Equally significant is the 27 Nosler’s recommended twist rate: 1 turn in 8.5 inches. Why so fast? To stabilize the new, high B.C. bullets coming soon — like the 165-grain AccuBond Long Range just announced and the 170-grain Berger EOL Elite Hunter (G1 B.C. .662) already on dealer shelves. Most hunters don’t absolutely need such long, heavy bullets for effective performance at responsible game-taking distances, but beyond 300 yards they do flatten trajectories, minimize wind deflection, and maximize retained energy. A high B.C. bullet makes it easier to hit should you misjudge the range. (Or you can just stalk closer and to heck with pushing the envelope.)
